THE FARM

OUR COWS

Silver Gully Farm runs a home-grown beef cattle operation in Mangrove Mountain on the Central Coast, NSW. 

​

For two decades we have been pure-breeding Square Meaters, a medium framed, premium Australian beef cattle variety.

​

Our aim is to provide quality beef with minimum 'food miles' direct to the customer - from our paddock to your plate!

OUR FARMING PHILOSOPHY

Sustainable | Biologically Sustainable

As a medium framed cattle breed, Square Meater cattle place less pressure on their environment and soil than larger cattle breeds, reducing erosion, soil compaction and emissions. They are bred to fatten quickly and on grass, with early maturing characteristics.

 

Our farm also operates on a cell based grazing system, aiming to optimise natural crop growth after the cows have fed, avoiding the use of pesticides and discourage weed development. As our farm sits on an old orchard, our pastures are well-structured and have good drainage allowing easy plant root growth. We are proud to build these sustainable farming practices into our everyday activities.
